5. Chairman's Remarks

I thank our hosts in the Korean NB for their hospitality.

I apologize for not being there, but various things prevent my travel, and I
hope Sam understands.

I am pleased that we have established a connection with SC29 and that what
will be, from the SC34 perspective, ISO/IEC 9541-4 is proceeding. I spoke to
one of my contacts in SC 29 this morning (5/23), and he thinks things are
going well.

I welcome the liaison delegations from ISUG, OASIS and Ecma. Our liaison
partners are always welcome to send delegations. I hope that OASIS and Ecma
understand that the projects in which they have an interest are not on the
agenda at this plenary. They are nonetheless welcome to participate in the
meetings of SC34's WGs.

I look forward to seeing everyone in Boston.

6. Secretariat's Remarks

Thank you to all members helping with the document processing of committee
documents and helping me fulfill my procedural obligations.

I still need the help of members to keep an eye out for issues of importance
to our committee, as my other obligations interfere with my voluntary work.

Of note, I need working group convenors and all members to periodically review
the Interim Secretariat Report and pass to me any up-to-date information.

As always I very much appreciate the moral support I've received from all
members of the committee regarding my duties. It is a privilege to serve.

A final note of thanks to the Korean National Body and, in particular, Jinie
Min for the preprations for and running of our meeting this week in Seoul. I
don't think I've been to a standards meeting where the agenda for the week
includes a complete menu. It promises to be a wonderful experience.

Ken, concerning "ad hoc comments" - no, the only comments
that the Project Editor is allowed to consider are those
submitted via the ballot. Yes, all changes from the
balloted text to the final text need to be traced back to
an official ballot response comment such as I assume SC 34
does with all ballot comment resolution.

  - comment: disposition report is expected soon
