Announcement
The Secretariat Manager has submitted his resignation and the Standards Council of Canada has given notice for relinquishing the SC34 Secretariat. If your national body is interested in undertaking the Secretariat Office responsibilities, please inform the JTC 1 Secretariat.

Document Description and Processing Languages Standards and technical reports related to structured markup languages (specifically the Standard Generalized Markup Language (SGML) and the Extensible Markup Language (XML)) in the areas of information description, processing and association.

The next plenary session is scheduled for March 22-24, 2007 in Oslo, Norway:
JTC 1/SC 34 and its working groups are scheduled to meet March 22 through 24 in Oslo, Norway held in conjunction with the Topic Maps 2007 conference. The web site has a hotel and venue information page.
The meeting is hosted by Bouvet, AS of Norway at Sandakerveien 24c, building D11, a 10-minute tram ride from the centre of Oslo. The hosts have indicated http://www.trafikanten.no/ has helpful instructions to make one's way to the meeting by public transport. SC34 thanks Bouvet for their generosity in supporting our meetings.
The opening plenary is scheduled for 2007-03-22 09:00. Tentatively the closing plenary is scheduled for 2007-03-24 14:00. Please watch this space for any last-minute chnges!
Delegates must register with the Secretariat Manager through their national body representative by being accredited to attend.

The subcommittee process revolves around the Secretariat's report that is periodically snapshot in the archives for historical record but evolves on a day-by-day (or even hour-by-hour sometimes) basis.
