Title: ISO/IEC 10646-1 Amendment 14: YI CHARACTER SET

Scope:

A set of character names, code positions, and typical graphic symbols for the Yi script, including its syllabary and a small set of radicals - a total of about 1200 characters.

Rationale:

To add the characters of the Yi script to ISO/IEC 10646-1. This script is in use by a population of over 6 million, mainly in the Western provinces of China.

2) Proposed Project Number: JTC 1.02.08.01.15

Title: ISO/IEC 10646-1 Amendment 15: RADICALS AND NUMERALS

Scope:

A set of character names, code positions, and typical graphic symbols, comprising Kang Xi radical characters, together with a Supplement to the existing CJK Unified Ideographic radicals, and a Supplement to the existing Hangzhou numerals - a total of about 250 characters.

Rationale:

To add to ISO/IEC 10646-1 the ideographic radical characters from Standard CNS 11643 that is widely used in Taiwan, and a small set of CJK unified ideographic radicals that are missing from the existing CJK unified ideographic code tables. (Note: radicals are used in the index tables of dictionaries for Asian languages that use an ideographic script.) Also to add three ideographic numerals that are missing from Table 30 of ISO/IEC 10646-1.

Title: ISO/IEC 10646-1 Amendment 16: BRAILLE SYMBOLS

Scope:

A set of character names, code positions, and typical graphic symbols for the Braille writing system - a total of about 250 characters.

Rationale:

To add the set of Braille symbols to ISO/IEC 10646-1. The Braille symbols are used worldwide to represent written or printed text in a touch-sensitive style, for reading by blind persons.

Title: ISO/IEC 10646-1 Amendment 17: CJK UNIFIED IDEOGRAPH EXTENSION

Scope:

A set of code positions, and typical graphic symbols, together with detailed National source code references, for a supplement to the existing CJK Unified Ideographic characters - a total of about 6600 characters.

Rationale:

To add to ISO/IEC 10646-1 a supplementary set of CJK unified ideographic characters that have been identified since the publication of Edition 1 of the standard. The characters are in regular use in some or all of the countries China, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Vietnam.

5) Proposed Project Number: JTC 1.02.18.01.18

Title: ISO/IEC 10646-1 Amendment 18: Symbols and Other collections

Scope:

A set of character names, code positions, and typical graphic symbols, for additional characters in various existing collections of specialist symbols and alphabetic scripts, a total of 43 characters.

Rationale:

To add to ISO/IEC 10646-1 small numbers of characters that are missing from existing collections, and are needed for the purposes indicated, as follows - - 10 Latin characters (for Pinyin, Romanian, and Mediaeval English), - 4 Cyrillic characters (for Macedonian), - 1 Armenian character (previously omitted in error) - 9 Arabic characters (for Indic languages when written in Arabic), - 1 Hebrew character (for Yiddish), - 18 specialist symbols (from ISO 2047, ISO/IEC 9995, ISO IR-181, plus the new EURO currency symbol).
