Prepared by: V.S. Umamaheswaran (Canada) and Michel Suignard (US)
Reference documents:
SC2 N3290 – ISO Coded Character Set Registration Authority Report -
Items 3 a to d.
SC2 N 3169 – US recommendations regarding procedures for character

-
The revision will be to examine current ISO 2375 and incorporate the necessary
changes to permit items 3 - a, b, c and d of document N3290.
-
Expand the role of Registration Advisory Group (RAG) to accommodate the
recommendation 3 in document N3169. In particular to use the RAG to preview
proposed registrations towards ensuring that items 3 - a, b, c, and d of
N3290 are properly met, prior to circulating the registration proposal
for SC 2 NB comment, and final registration.
-
Additional changes can be accommodated based on relevant National Body
contributions.
Some examples of what the revision can include are:

Title Change: Information Technology – Procedure for registration of escape
sequences.
-
Number change from ISO 2375 to ISO/IEC 2375
-
Clause 3 – reference list – update to include 10646 for cross referencing
of characters.
-
Clause 5, insert item 3a, requiring a preview within the new role of RAG.
Clarify item 2) to indicate that complete codes from B.1.5, need not be
according to ISO/IEC 2022,
-
Revise Annex B to recognise improved layouts, hexadecimal entries, "combining
characters" recognition etc.
-
A new clause on PREVIEW PROCEDURE will be added to give guidance to the
expanded role of the RAG.
-
Modify Annex D to expand the role of RAG to include PREVIEW activity.
