Attachment 1: Ireland

Irish comments on FCD ISO/IEC 10646-1/PDAM 24 (Thaana)
Date: 1998-08-25

Q1: Ireland approves the PDAM registration.
Q2: Ireland approves the draft with the comment given below:

Technical:
1. Information Irish experts have received from the Department of Education of the Maldives suggests that the order of the characters in the code table is not correct. To date, although specific clarification on this point has been requested, a revised character order has not been made available.
Should this information become available in time, every effort should be made to accommodate the Maldivian requirements between now and the end of the FPDAM ballot period.

Attachment 2: Israel

General
Israel Votes YES, provided that the relevant (*) national body/bodies also approves this draft - otherwise our vote is
ABSTAIN.

(*) relevant national body = the national body for which this charactercollection describes its national language.

Attachment 3: Sweden

General
The vote Approval is on condition of approval from the countires concerned.

Attachment 4: USA

The U.S. vote for ISO/IEC 10646-1 PDAM consideration for amendment 24 Thaana
Document: SC2 N 3104
The U.S. votes to approve with comments.

Comments:
The Thaana font should be made less "bold", to clarify the archetypical forms of these characters.  Nakanishi provides clearer examples of the handwritten forms than these felt-tip pen forms that mimic the Haveeru Daily Online forms seen on the web.

If Maldivian experts provide feedback for a better ordering of these basic letters, Sybase would not object. But we would not like to see *new* characters introduced at the FPDAM stage of balloting.
