Canada

Due date 1998 07 31
Document number JTC1/2N3086 - registration #203 - Supplementary Latin-9

Canada agrees with, and strongly supports this registration.

UK

The UK approves Registration Nos. 203, 204, 205, 206.

US

The U.S. Vote for Registration # 203 Latin-9 supplement

 Document: SC2 N 3086

The U.S. vote is to disapprove.

Comments:
The US still thinks that Latin-9 will introduce chaos in the 8 bit encoding environment by its too close similarity with Latin-1. We would have much preferred a redesign of the 8859 parts with an opening of the C1 part for graphic characters.  This registration is not necessary, since ISO 8859-15 has been approved.
