AD-HOC COMMITTEE REPORT - JTC 1 DELIVERABLES - STANDARDS ABSTRACTS
The ad-hoc group met to report on the addition of "Standards Abstracts", as a JTC 1deliverable for consideration by the Re-Engineering Committee.
The following proposal is recommended for discussion and approval.
Title: The term Abstract is not being used due to an existing ISO definition which does not fit the needs or
intent of this proposal. We are proposing the term "Executive Summary"!

The Executive Summary is a separate document developed for information and distribution purposes. It may also be used in the standard itself as an introduction. It should be hyper linked for ease of use in standards catalogues and related databases. The intent is to use the executive summary in our external communication/information efforts.
It should identify:
Secondary recommendation for consideration:
The group recommended that public awareness of JTC 1 new standards development activities, be enhanced through the use of a "Public Awareness Document". It should be based on the NP acceptance criteria and developed by the SC after the NP has been approved. This action is intended for external communications e.g. publications, circulars related databases and the WWW, with the intent of encouraging broader participation in its program of work.
