He objected to the use of the character*(*) syntax in my proposal for note 5.6 at page [51:27-31]. We agreed on the following version of the note, and I have updated my proposed change list correspondingly. [51:27-31] Change the note to read An interface body may be specified for a dummy or external function whose result has a character length parameter value of * only if the function is not invoked. This is because this characteristic has to be specified to be the same in the interface body as in the procedure definition, but in order to invoke such a procedure, the calling routine is required to specify a length other than *. -- Richard Maine maine@altair.dfrc.nasa.gov
