The ANSI X3H5 meeting was hosted by Convex in Dallas, TX 12/8-12/10/93.

Attendees: Walt Rudd (Oregon Advanced Computing Institute)
		          Joel Williamson   (Convex)
		          Leslie Scarbourgh (IBM)
		          Bruce Leasure     (KAI)

The initial discussion at the meeting was how to bring the work of the
committee to a conclusion. The participants in the committee have
decreased; the public interest in the work as decreased.

Alternatives discussed included swithching directives and syntax;
passing syntax binding onto language standard committees; converting
proposed language binding definitions to technical reports; dissolve
X3H5 committee after handling public comment from the model document;
follow up with Fortran and C language committees.

Walt Rudd talked to J. Hill (x3h5 rep on OMC). He recommends the
technical report avenue. Need a revised project proposal to do this.
He recommends that we have joint meetings with the language committees.
The X3H5 committee should request conversion to maintenance mode.

 Leslie: Proposal: change language bindings to technical
	    reports.  Joel seconds.  Passes 4-0

We decided to target March 1994 as the last meeting:

    - Model document public review comments will be addressed
      (Comments are due by Feb 26,1994.)

    - Project proposals for Fortran and C bindings will be changed from
      standard definitions to technical reports

    - Fortran technical report will define a directive and a syntax
      binding. The directives are viewed as an interim solution; the
      syntax is a recommendation for the X3J3 (Fortran) committee
      to include as part of a future Fortran language standard.

      Target vote on final version of Fortran technical report 1/94.

    - C technical report will define a binding using a mixture of
      pragmas and syntax. The technical report will be a recommendation
      to the X3J11 (C) committee.

      Target vote on final version of C technical report 3/94.

    - Yet to be determined: what requirements for a "maintenance mode"
      committee are?; will there be a need to provide interpretations
      to model document? etc.
