The following may be of interest to members of WG5.

I have recently finished two papers on Fortran 90: one is a paper
on an optimization algorithm written in Fortran 90 which is based
on a similar routine written in Fortran 77 and published earlier
in the ACM Transactions on Mathematical Software (TOMS); the other
discusses the conversion process and the utility of the new Fortran
90 features.

The papers have now been accepted and will appear in due course
in TOMS. Preprints of the articles, in dvi or ps form, are
available via anonymous ftp. Feel free to copy these articles,
and to advertise them to anyone you feel would be interested.

As a measure of interest in Fortran 90, note that over 150 people
have logged on to our ftp server since I advertised these papers
on NA net 5 days ago.

The machine is

	ftp.royalroads.ca

and the material is in the directory

	pub/software/bbuckley/alg999

Directions for what is there are in the README file.

If you have any problems, please send me email at

	bbuckley@agb.royalroads.ca

I hope you find the papers helpful.

Bert Buckley
