Subject: 3-Month Ballot on Technical Corrigendum 1

The processing of a Technical Corrigendum requires a 3-month ballot among SC22
and JTC1 member bodies. The syntax errors noted by Dick Weaver should certainly
be reported in the US ballot and corrected in the "final" version published
by ISO. I was informed that this processing is normal business and did not
require a resolution at the recent SC22 meeting.

A resolution was passed moving the renumbered Varying Length Character String
draft (1539-2) to DIS status. There will be a six-month ballot on this draft.

There may be some delays in processing these documents. Joe Cote has resigned
as SC22 Secretariat and unless Canada can find a replacement, they will have
to give up SC22. I should know more about this situation soon. A full report
of the SC22 meeting will appear in the next WG5 distribution.
