The syntax errors noted by Dick Weaver should certainly be reported in the US ballot and corrected in the "final" version published by ISO. I was informed that this processing is normal business and did not require a resolution at the recent SC22 meeting. A resolution was passed moving the renumbered Varying Length Character String draft (1539-2) to DIS status. There will be a six-month ballot on this draft. There may be some delays in processing these documents. Joe Cote has resigned as SC22 Secretariat and unless Canada can find a replacement, they will have to give up SC22. I should know more about this situation soon. A full report of the SC22 meeting will appear in the next WG5 distribution.
