From: Lawrie Schonfelder <JLS@liverpool.ac.uk>
Subject: Varying String Draft
To: SC22/WG5 members <SC22WG5@dkuug.dk>
X-Charset: ASCII
X-Char-Esc: 29

As a result of the internal WG5 ballot which was in favour of submitting
the current draft form for registration as a CD, I have prepared a version
which incorporated as many of the corrections and minor improvements
that were suggested in ballot comments as I could without materially
changing the substance or the style of the document. The following
five e-mails contain the ASCII version of the text. A properly formatted
paper version has also been sent to Jeanne.
Over half of the Module has been tested using the NAG compiler and I
hope to have the whole tested by Victoria. The outstanding parts that
have not been through full testing are the REMOVE,REPLACE,INSERT,EXTRACT
procedures and the I/O. Producing test programs for these is a larger job
than I have been able to complete given the amount of spare time available
to me for this work.

The complete document has been split into 1000 line chunks for distribution
by email since some mailers object to messages longer than this.

Regards

Lawrie
