Subject: ballot results and May X3J3 meeting matters

To X3J3 -

I have now analyzed the comments that accompanied the last letter ballot on
006 items; the corresponding recommendations (subject to committee approval,
of course) will be in the premeeting, along with the comments. Briefly,
those recommendations are:

accept as-is and reclassify as "ready for WG5":
     0-b, 41, 75, 92, 93, 112, 113, 117, 123, 130

accept with minor edits, as per comments, and reclassify as "ready for WG5":
     4, 11, 12, 29, 30, 39, 58, 71, 73, 79, 86, 89, 105, 108, 129

return to subgroups for review (and my recommendation says why):
     27 (DATA), 70 (PROC), 82 (PROC), 87 (DATA),
     91 (DATA), 97 (GEN), 100 (DATA), 125 (DATA)

With these 8 reconsideration items, there are a total of 27 items currently
in the 006 that are not yet ready for WG5. They are:

   /edit GEN DATA PROC
   ----- --- ---- ----
     7 96 27 49
    28 97 76 70
    88 101 77 82
           121 81 83
                    87 90
                    91 99
                   100 122
                   111 124
                   125 126
                           127
                           128

I would like to reassign the three /edit items (7, 28, 88) to GEN for the May
meeting, so that /edit can spend full time on editorial issues reagrding the
document for the next revision. GEN and /edit, is this alright with you?
Naturally there will be a few new requests to be assigned, but so far I have
seen only a couple such.

Finally, since X3H5 will be meeting with /parallel during the May meeting on
the X3H5 Fortran 90 binding, I would like to ask CIO to spend this meeting on
helping that activity get completed. I have just distributed the postscript
file for the draft binding (it seemed to get back to me OK through the WG5
reflector); it would be desirable if the /parallel and CIO members became
familiar with this draft before the meeting, so that the meeting can focus on
solving problems rather than getting up to speed (of course it would be even
more desirable if all members were familiar with the draft). Maybe Kurt can
put that file on the X3J3 server so that anyone that has trouble with it via
the email message can get it via FTP from the server.

More later.
