To X3J3 and WG5:

Many of you knew Merle Adams, Jeanne Adams' husband, as Merle often
accompanied Jeanne on trips to X3J3 and WG5 meetings. I am most sad
to say that Merle died Feb 15, of cancer. He died peacefully at home.

A memorial service was held Feb 21 in the Old Main Chapel on the University
of Colorado campus in Boulder. The service was as Merle wished, short and
upbeat, devoted primarily to Bach selections played by a string quartet and
the reading of several poems by Howard Nemerov, 1991 poet laureate of the US.

There is a fund established in Merle's name and associated with the mountains
that he loved. I will be glad to send information about the fund to anyone
wishing to make a contribution.

Jerry
