Maybe there is some misunderstanding about what I
have tried to do. The form is not a form to create
the file for our database. It is a form to submit
and idea for consideration. Obviously, the more
the result looks like a database entry the better,
but it cannot be the same. For example, I think we
want to collect the name and e-mail address of the
person who submits it. Also, it might be a bit
difficult for the submitter to provide a "History".

Maybe the submitter's country would be an
additional field that might be useful ???

Please send me words for the intro text.
I assume it will be brief.

Of course, when printing the submission I can make such changes
as "Impact" -> "Estimated Impact". I will do that if we agree
to have the form.

This isn't going to work. Who does a submitter from
Peru send it to? If somebody provides me a mapping
from each country in the world to e-mail addresses,
I can do it (I did this for shipping from the Fortran
Store), but I don't think this is what we want. I
believe these will need some human processing before
going into the database--for example, we may decide
that Bruce Martin and his 2-trip DO loop proposal
are wacky and may not want to include it (I like
his "Letter O considered harmful" proposal much
better).

I think the only reasonable thing is to send these
to one or two people in WG5 or J3 (JOR?). We can
filter some of the stuff the way we did at the most
recent J3 meeting (i.e., create a recommendation for
a list of things to consider seriously). What do you
think, Stan?

XML is text not much different from the example I
showed. You would have

<Name>
Joan Doe
</Name>

instead of

Name:
Joan Doe

or

Name: Joan Doe

You can trivially produce the regular text from the XML.

But I'll produce whatever is agreed.

No. I am not going to have the script keep
a different numbering system for each country
(it was modestly difficult to get a CGI script to
number submissions consecutively--one problem is
to lock out the file in case two people are creating
submissions simultaneously).
If each submission must go to a different country,
I don't think this whole idea will work.

I would like to hear opinions from others, also.
