We are re-equipping with a new Macintosh network, but the Computing Service are unwilling to give a firm date for connecting us to the University Ethernet (even though the cable for our part of the University is in place and terminates in our premises!) so I still have to use my old PC in a quite different part of the city. During the period before Christmas, we were moving into new premises, simultaneously with builders etc finishing work that should have been done some time earlier and it just wasn't possible to spare the time to travel across Oxford to log in to the VAX and check my mail. Now that I can find the time to do so there are well over 200 messages piled up, waiting to be read; so apologies for my even more tardy than usual response. Hopefully I will be able to get mail in my own office again by the end of the month. So if anyone needs to contact me urgently in the next few weeks it may be a good idea to telephone, fax or (perish the thought :-) write.
