I still prefer "Fortran 2000" which have been used for a long 
time, though I agree that John's first point is a good reason.

In case of FORTREV or Fortran 8X, the temporary names sounded 
undoubtedly temporary.  As for 2000, it sounds both an actual 
year and an approximate year.

For those who have been familiar with F2k or who will know it 
shortly, it's clearly an approximate year.  John's third point 
ensures this interpretation.  ;-)

The existence of the names both Fortran 2000 and 2003 will no 
doubt be confused, later, with a minor revision in between.
