Dear Fortran experts,

as John Reid indicated in his last mail, the deadline for booking a
room at the guest house of the TU Dresden is quickly approaching.
In the meantime I have called the guest house, and they are willing
to wait until the end of next week (May 2nd) for the "big chunk".
They have also offered to hold a few rooms until the end of May, so
for the really undecided there is no problem until at least the end
of May. For my own benefit, it would be helpful to know about your
plans asap. (Only 5 have booked a room so far.)

I am in the process of putting together a detailed message about our trip
to Prague. It seems that there will be about 8 to 10 people if I interpret
the "statements of intent" correctly.

!!! Please tell me if you intend to go to Prague!!!

I am proposing to leave Dresden by train on Friday afternoon, August 1st
(about 3 hours to Prague) and to return to Dresden Monday evening (or
afternoon), August 4th. We could make it a bit longer because there are
a lot of things we could/should see, but I am afraid that some of us
will be anxious to get back home or back to work. Individual returns
to Dresden will be no problem at all if people want to stay longer.

I am still looking for a reasonably priced hotel that is centrally
located, but that problem should be solved this weekend. As a general
rule, Prague is very "in" these days, and hotel prices are not lower than
in Dresden, especially not in mid-summer. There are a lot of low-priced
bed & breakfast places, but that is probably not an option because we all
want to stay in the same place, and it is difficult for me to find and
choose something acceptable from Dresden. I'll try to keep the price
for a single room somewhere between 50 and 80 dollars.

I hope that these plans more or less meet the expectations of those
wanting to go to Prague. Suggestions / reactions very welcome!!

I am waiting for responses, especially from those wanting to go to
Prague, so that I will have a more accurate head count.

By the way, I was mistaken about the necessity for a visa. It appears
that virtually all Europeans as well as Japanese and US (and a few other)
nationals just need their passport to enter the Czech Republic.

Best wishes,

Wolfgang
