WG5,

I have just asked for the following two papers to go on the server.
I will not put any more there before the meeting.

I look forward to seeing you again.

John.

                                                          WG5/N1515
                                                        25 March 2003

To: WG5
From: Van Snyder, J3 USTAG IR
Subject: U. S. National Body Activity Report

Since the Joint WG5/J3 meeting in September, 2002, the United States
National Body has not met except by electronic mail.

The United States National Body formed a position concerning the
Committee Draft during that meeting. Our only activity since then has
been to collect the U. S. National Body position into a comment on the
ballot on the CD, and forward that to NCITS.

That position is provided for reference at the March-April 2003 Joint
WG5/J3 meeting as J3 meeting paper 03-107r1. The U. S. National Body
wishes to thank John Reid for noticing and correcting four typographical
errors in the line and page number references in the initial draft of
that paper.

                                         ISO/IEC JTC1/SC22/WG5 N1516

                 National Activity Report of Japan
for the WG5 meeting in Las Vegas
                   TAKATA Masayuki, 30 March 2003

Japan voted "yes with comments" for the CD ballot. All the comments
are either typographical, editorial or very minor technical.

The rest of this report is the same as the privious one, just for
information for interested people.

SC22/Fortran WG of ITSCJ (Information Technology Standards Commission
of Japan) currently has 8(co.jp)+3(ac.jp) members. Its meetings are
held monthly, for 3 hours each time, in Tokyo.

Japan has the following fully-translated national standards.
  JIS X 3001-1:1998 = ISO/IEC 1539-1:1997 + Technical Corrigendum 1
  JIS X 3001-2:2002 = ISO/IEC 1539-2:2000
  JIS X 3001-3:2000 = ISO/IEC 1539-3:1999

The two Fortran-related TRs are not translated into Japanese. Those
TRs and the Technical Corrigendum 2 have been well announced in the
vendors' community, and have enough virtual influence. However, TC2
is not planned to be published in Japan, in any form that legally
affects the technical content of JIS X 3001-1:1998. We haven't had
appropriate ways to do that soon at an allowable cost.
