Subject: The CD ballot has started
MIME-Version: 1.0
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"

Dear WG5,

I am pleased to tell you that the CD ballot started last Friday. The
official version is available from

     http://www.dkuug.dk/jtc1/sc22/open/n3501.pdf

The J3 version, which is identical except for the title page and the
headers and footers, is available in ps, pdf, text, or source (latex)
from

       ftp://ftp.j3-fortran.org/j3/doc/standing/007/

The ballot terminates on 27 December.

Richard Maine had completed the edits and the little subcommittee
(me, Dan, Van, and Richard) that was checking them completed its work
last Tuesday. We agreed to some extremely minor changes, mostly
caused by slight glitches in the edits agree in Las Vegas. Full
details of the changes are given by Richard in 02-275.

I would like to take the opportunity to thank Richard for all his
hard work as Editor. He has been extremely diligent.

Phew! A milestone passed and we should have plenty of time to think
about the comments before our joint meeting in Las Vegas, 30 March
to 4 April.

Please all consider the document carefully and submit your personal
comments to your national body well before 27 December. You may find my
summary N1495 helpful, but remember that it is an unofficial document
written by me and has not been formally approved by either WG5 or J3.
If you base a comment on what I say, check with the CD in case I got it
wrong.

Happy reading!

John.
