Subject: Ballots and Corrigendum 2
MIME-Version: 1.0
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"

Dear WG5,

Following an appeal from Bill Long, I have decided to change the result
of the ballot on interp. JP-17 to fail. I want him to have a chance to
argue his case with J3 and Stan Whitlock agrees that this would be
appropriate. With all our four corrigenda so far, we have avoided
there being any controversy after forwarding to SC22; I want this to
be the same.

I have just put the following documents on the server:
N1470 Results of the ballot on interpretations, November 2001
N1471 Results of the ballot on Corrigendum 2, November 2001
   N1472 Draft Corrigendum 2, November 2001
N1473 Defect reports that led to corrigendum 2 and responses to them
   N1474 Outstanding Fortran 95 Interpretations, 27 November 2001

N1470 has been changed from the draft I sent to you to show JP-17 as
failing.

N1471 has been changed to include late comments from Van Snyder and
Makki Takata. I am particularly grateful to Makki for his careful
reading of the Corrigendum.

N1472 has been changed to exclude the edit from JP-17 and to take
account of Makki's comments (all editorial in nature).

N1473 and N1474 are new to everyone except Stan, who checked them for
me. N1473 contains all the interps that led to Corrigendum 2. [N1422
plays a similar role for Corrigendum 1.] I need N1473 to send to SC22
in support of Corrigendum 2. N1474 contains an overall index and the
outstanding interps. It is anyway convenient to have a shorter
document that contains only the outstanding interps. It is very
satisfying that N1473 is about twice the size of N1474.

I will forward Corrigendum 2 and N1473 to SC22 on Monday.

One more milestone passed! Phew!

John.
