Subject: Reunion
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit

This is an invitation to attend a reunion (gathering and
party) for participants in both national and international
Fortran standards efforts.

WHO: Anyone is welcome to come, of course, but the idea
is to get together people who have been members of any of
the Fortran standards committees. It would be particularly
nice to see some of the folks who participated in the early
standards.

WHAT: It is envisioned primarily as a fun and social event,
but we might also have some "technical" sessions related to
past, present, or future standards development.

WHERE: At this early date, we propose the Marriott suites
in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, where WG5/J3 are meeting.

WHEN: We propose 2003 March 28-29, which is the Saturday
and Sunday just before the joint meeting of WG5 and J3
planned for March 30-April 4.

WHY: Some of us thought it might be fun to gather together
and spend a day or two on Fortran, have a party, and visit
with friends from all over the world.

The undersigned are willing to do some coordination and make
some of the arrangements. But we need your help.

First, we need to contact all the potentially interested
people, some of whom may not be reachable by e-mail. If you
know of any such, please forward this message or inform us
of some means to contact them. We will post this to the
WG5 mailing list and comp.lang.fortran.

To help estimate the interest and the possible agenda for
such a gathering, please complete the form below and e-mail
it to Walt Brainerd: reunion@fortran.com.

Regards,
Brian Smith, Jeanne Martin, Walt Brainerd, Jeanne Adams
