Subject: FORTRAN 90/HPF IMPLEMENTORS WORKSHOP - 2nd INVITATION
Apparently-To: <SC22WG5@dkuug.dk>
X-Charset: ASCII
X-Char-Esc: 29

You are invited to attend a "Fortran 90 Workshop" hosted by Lahey
Computer Systems, Inc. This gathering of Fortran implementors
will be held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Incline Village,
Nevada on November 5th and 6th, 1992. The Workshop will run from
7:45 am to 5 pm each day.

The Workshop will explore implementation concerns and standards
problems. As part of the Workshop, we are asking for discussion
leaders and topics for the agenda. Modifications to the agenda
will be given serious consideration. Please note your
suggestions on the registration form.

The proposed schedule is ambitious. In order to meet time
constraints and to keep the dialogue focused, we propose that
discussions be timed and that discussion leaders be empowered to
rule debates out of order.

WORKSHOP TOPICS

Implementor Strategies
Implementors will give presentations about where they are
and how they got there. Graham Barber of EPC, Werner Assman
of GMD and Tom Lahey will discuss their respective
implementations of Fortran 90. If you are interested in
presenting your implementation progress, please check the
appropriate box on the registration form.

Interpretations
Matt Snyder, Lahey Software Engineer, will give an update on
X3J3 progress and how it affects implementation.

Implementors and Standards
Tom Lahey will discuss the role of HPFF (High Performance
Fortran Forum) in the Fortran 90 development cycle. HPFF is
being created "almost outside" the Standard process. The
focus will be on homogenous implementation of the HPF
standard to ensure portability of user code. Tom also
believes there should be a J3 implementor's subcommittee.

Fortran 90 Procedures
Janice Shepard, IBM Canada, will lead this discussion.

Common Extensions
Richard Hanson, IMSL, Inc., will lead this discussion
concerning what extensions you may be adding to your Fortran
     90 implementation.

Test Suite Demo
Bryan Price, Lahey Software Developer, will present this
product and lead a discussion concerning its use.
Immediately following, there will be a Test Suite Consortium
meeting. This meeting is for anyone interested in adding
tests to this product and using it for their own
     development.

The fee for this two-day workshop is $80. This includes
participation in all workshops, all workshop materials, and

DIRECTIONS

The Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe is located in Incline Village,
Nevada. It is on the North Shore of Lake Tahoe--approximately 45
minutes from the Reno-Cannon International Airport, 2 hours from
the Sacramento Airport, and 4 hours from the San Francisco
International Airport. There is an airport in South Lake Tahoe,
but due to our location we recommend flying into the Reno
Airport.

>From Reno: Take Highway 395 South from the airport until it ends
at Virginia Street. Turn right at the light and continue until
you reach the Mt. Rose Highway (State Route 431). Turn right on
431 and continue until you reach Highway 28 (about 27 miles) in
Incline Village. Turn left on Highway 28 and then right on
Country Club Drive. The Hyatt is on the right.

>From Carson City/S. California: Take Highway 50 to Highway 28.
When you reach Incline Village, turn left on Country Club Drive.
The Hyatt is on the right.

>From N. California: Take Interstate 80 from Sacramento to
Truckee and exit at Highway 267 to the North Shore of Lake Tahoe.
Turn left on Highway 28. Continue to Incline Village (about 5
miles). Turn right on Country Club Drive. The Hyatt is on the
right.
