                  Theory, Practice, Experience'
                       SMS TPE 93

                     FIRST ANNOUNCEMENT

     Computing  Centre  @  Institute of the Problems of Cybernetics of
the Russian Academy of Sciences will be organizing  one-week  Workshop
on   the   problems   of   software  design  for  innovative  computer
architectures in early 1993 near St.Petersburg, Russia.

Principal topics are the following.

     1.  New  Computer  Architectures:  Transputer  Networks,   Vector
Processors,VLIWs, Dataflow @ Datadriven machines etc.
     2.   Software  Tools:  Environments,  OS,  Compilers,  Debuggers,
Profilers.
     3. Simulation @ Performance Analysis.
     4.   Theory   and   Practice   of   Parallelization:  Scheduling,
Processes-Processors Mapping, Load Balancing, Systolic Algorithms etc.
     5. Theory @ Models of Concurrency.
     6. Languages for Parallel Computations.

     The  principal  objective  of  the  1st  Workshop is to establish
closer personal contacts between Russian  scientists  working  in  the
field  and  their  colleagues abroad. Presentations concerning current
activities of research groups or large research projects are therefore
especially welcome.  Programme  Committee  doesn't  assume  to  select
reports  for  presentation  on  the Workshop. If you are interested in
taking part in the Workshop please send us the abstract of your report
(300-500 words) by email or fax not later than October,1.

IMPORTANT!
Please note that  the  Workshop  will  be  held  only  if  it  gathers
sufficient  audience.  Final  decision  will  be  made as soon as late
October-early November. We'll inform you about it as soon as possible.
As  no  exact  time  for  the  Workshop  is   established   yet   (two
possibilities  are January 10-16 and February 7-13) please specify the
time you would prefer.

including visits to theatres, museums and city suburbs,

All payments are in cash.
