Dear WG5,
Matthijs has not been able to arrange a meeting in the
Netherlands for 2002 but is still trying for 2003 and will give us an
update at the London meeting. Today is Mallory's deadline for his
contract with the Las Vegas hotel so I have accepted his offer and said
that we will meet there from Sunday August 11 to Friday August 16,
2002.

Your responses to my request for opinions about where to hold meetings
indicate that this is acceptable.

We will have a whole-day meeting of WG5 on Sunday so that J3 members
can come as usual for a Monday to Friday meeting if they wish.

This is an important meeting for WG5 since it has to approve the draft
standard as being ready for submission as a CD in September so there
will be a need for WG5 to meet during the week. Dan and I will need to
liaise. We will keep the distinction between a session that is part of
the WG5 meeting with me in the chair and one that is part of the J3
meeting with Dan in the chair.

It should be possible to complete both sets of closing business on the
Friday morning, so the finish time will be published as 1 p.m.

Best wishes,

John Reid.
