Subject: spam filter. fortran
X-Mailer: VM 6.72 under 21.1 (patch 12) "Channel Islands" XEmacs Lucid

Because of the unacceptable (to me) amount of spam comming through the
sc22wg5 list, I've put a filter on my my mail system. If you want me
to see sc22wg5 email, be sure to include the word Fortran somewhere in
the subject (like I did here - this is half a test to be sure my
filter lets this through). Otherwise, it will get filed with the
spam. It was easier for me to do this simple-minded filter than
something that, for example, checked against a list of wg5 members.

My filter has no effect on the mailing list itself or on its
distribution to anyone else. It just filters what gets to me.

This applies only to mail via the sc22wg5 list. I am not filtering
email that goes directly to the j3 list (because I've rarely, if
ever, seen spam come that way - or at least the ratio of valid
email to spam is quite high for things directly to the j3 list).

Ideally, of course, spam filtering would be done on the server.
If that ever starts happening, I'll drop my personal one.
