To: WG5
From: Jeanne Martin, Acting Chair J3 meeting 154
Subject: WG5 Papers Forwarded to J3

J3 warmly thanks WG5 for their contributions to the ongoing work of the
primary development body; in particular, the 6 papers that appeared in
the premeeting distribution for meeting 154:

    J3/00-260 Draft Interpretations from WG5
    J3/00-261 Draft edits to J3/00-007r2 from WG5
J3/00-268 Results of ballots on interpretations (N1403)
J3/00-269 Unresolved technical issues of C-Fortran interoperability
(N1402)
    J3/00-270 Overloading structure constructors (N1407)
    J3/00-271 Destructors (N1417)

At that meeting J3 -

    - approved 23 interpretations for J3 letter ballot following the
meeting (Among
them were 22 of the 28 draft interpretations in paper 260. Some
responses
      were modified slightly.)
    - accepted most of the draft edits in paper 261 (Some were modified
slightly.)
    - approved the resolutions of 11 C-Fortran interoperability issues
including the 3
      addressed in paper 269
    - approved edits for the overloading of structure constructors and
for destructors,
thus completing the requirements for Fortran 2000.

There remain some 55 unresolved issues of which over half are concerned
with C-Fortran interoperability. Some of the unresolved issues need to
be resolved before J3 can fully enter the integration phase. There are
7 J3 meetings and 1 WG5 meeting before the scheduled delivery of the
F2000 draft to WG5. J3 gratefully accepts any assistance from WG5.
