To J3 -

I've received several suggestions and have updated
http://www.ionet.net/~jwagener/j3 slightly. Among the changes are:

     - eliminated the scroll bars in the header and menu frames

     - made the text in the "active" menu link a bit darker

     - made all the main-frame tiles "3D" (not just the "J3")

     - said more about the connections with NCITS, ISO, SC22, etc.

     - put in an F95 purchase link to the Fortran market

     - said something about when next meeting info/docs become available

Be careful what you ask for - you might get it. :) But then maybe
not - one person said they liked the original version better, but I
didn't revert. Only one person so far has complained (mildly, in
that case) about performance; I'll work on improving that when I get
a chance (and when I get any bright ideas on what to do about it).

Speaking about being careful what you ask for...
It appeared to me that "Fortran.org", though not available, wasn't
operable. So I contacted the contact to wonder why and found out
that, contrary to expectations a year ago, they currently don't plan
to use it and would be happy to turn it over to us. That's great news
on one hand, and on the other it raises two problems:

   (1) my ISP has been taken over by PSInet, so (to make a long story short)
       they no longer offer free web facilities to nonprofit organizations;
they want to charge $20/month, so I need to investigate other options

   (2) Though I think that Fortran.org is "the right" domain name for J3,
I'm not entirely comfortable with "locking it in" to J3 exclusively.
Afterall, WG5 is also a nonprofit Fortran organization, for example
and there might be others (though I don't know of any unless "Fortran
Forum" would also be one). At the very least, it seems to me,
       Fortran.org should encompass both J3 and WG5.

So this simple "ask for" has made life a bit more complicated, and
before doing anything irreversible I thought maybe I should get input
from anyone who might be interested/concerned about any of this.

Happy Holidays and Merry Millennium
(with apologies to those who don't think it's the millennium).

Jerry
