We are pleased to announce a second edition of "Fortran 90/95 Explained".
This new volume represents a revision of the first edition published in
1996.

The main changes are:

1) The Fortran 95 material is now fully integrated with that of Fortran
90, whilst always maintaining a clear distinction between the two
language levels. Our aim is for the book to be equally convenient for
readers working at either level. Note that Fortran 95 is now available
from Cray, Compaq, IBM, Lahey/Fujitsu, NAG, Salford and SGI.

2) We have added a chapter on floating-point exception handling, an
officially-approved enhancement to Fortran 95 that will be included in
Fortran 2000. This feature is already available in the NAG compiler.

3) We have added a chapter on allocatable dummy arguments, functions,
and derived-type components, another officially-approved enhancement to
Fortran 95 that will be included in Fortran 2000. This feature, too, is
already available in the NAG compiler.

4) All examples are now in lower case and we have moved to Latex as text
processing system.

The opportunity has been taken to make minor improvements and to
incorporate the latest language interpretations; the introductory
chapter takes full account of the latest developments in the standards
arena. The book is thus a complete, up-to-date, and authoritative
description of Fortran 90, Fortran 95, and the ISO-approved extensions
that will be part of Fortran 2000.
