Subject: ISO names for new characters in the Fortran 2000 character set
X-VMS-To: SC22WG5@DKUUG.DK

The J3 Fortran committee passed the specification for some new characters to
be added to the Fortran character set in Fortran 2000. We could not finalize
the syntax and edits because we didn't know the official "names" for these
characters according to the ISO 10646 character set standard. We need this
information to extend table 3.1 in Fortran 95.

The characters to be added are

	character	my very unofficial description

[ ] left and right square brackets
{ } left and right braces
	@ commercial at sign
	\ backslash
	~ tilde
	` grave accent
	| vertical bar
	#		sharp sign {pound or number sign}
	^ caret

If anyone out there has access to 10646, could you please look up these
characters in the 8-bit set and reply to this mail with the "names" of these
characters? Also please include the complete name and date of the 10646
document and table number you get them from so we can have the reference.

Thanks /Stan
