Subject: Date of next year's WG5 meeting
Date: Tue, 10 Nov 1998 17:59:51 +0000

There appears to be some confusion (to say the least!) over the date of
next year's WG5 meeting. I hope to be able to resolve matters by the end
of this week.

The present situation is that I was notified last May by our French
colleagues that France was willing and able to host next year's meeting,
and that the proposed dates were 21-25 June.

I announced this at the WG5 meeting in Trollhättan a couple of weeks later.

When I returned from the WG5 meeting I received two emails (one of which
was the formal invitation from AFNOR) which informed me that the date had
been altered to one week earlier, that is June 14-18.

I altered the dates in my report to SC22 and also, I thought, notified WG5
of the changed date.

It has recently become apparent that my email announcing the change of date
either did not reach all members, or was not sent at all. I therefore sent
out a message the week before last confirming that the date of the meeting
was June 14-18.

Today, I received an email from Patrice Lignalet which stated that the
dates for the meeting were June 21-25.

On querying this with him, he confessed himself (like me ;-) to be
confused, as the French Fortran group had discussed the meeting in October
and had been working on the assumption that the dates were 21-25 June.

Unfortunately, tomorrow (November 11th) is a holiday for many in France,
but Patrice has assured me that he will be able to sort out exactly which
date is the correct one on Thursday.

Please accept my apologies for the confusion.

Miles
