Subject: New Documents on the WG5 server

I have now put all the documents from the Vienna meeting on the WG5 server,
apart from two for which I do not yet have the electronic version. The
relevant documents are as follows:

1285	WG5 Business Plan and Convener's Report for the 1997 JTC1/SC22 Plenary
1286	SC22 Project Information (Standing Document 3)
1287	Strategic Plan for Fortran Standardization (Standing Document 4)
1288	WG5 Procedures for Document Distribution
1289	Attendance at the Vienna WG5 meeting, 21-25 July 1997
1290	Resolutions of the Vienna WG5 meeting, 21-25 July 1997
1295	/data Category 2 Requirements (Cohen)
1296	Germany's National Activity Report (Walter)
1298	Interop PDTR - Type aliasing revised (Hennecke)
1299	Interop PDTR - C enum support (Hennecke)
1300	Document Register (N1251-N1300)
1301	Conditional Compilation in Fortran - Draft CD 1539-3 (Epstein, Reid)
1302	Procedures for WG5 Electronic Document Distribution

These relate to the temporary V-numbered documents as follows:

V1=N1285, V2=N1286, V3=N1287, V4=N1288, V6=N1296, V8=N1289, V10=N1298,
V11=N1299, V12=N1301, V13=N1302, V14=N1290

V7 (N1297) and V15 (N1303) are not yet available in electronic form.

The minutes will be N1291.

N1304 is the latest version of the list of members. However, as it
contains addresses, telephone, fax and email details I am not placing it on
the server until it can be password controlled. Anyone who would like this
list, in either PDF or PostScript form, should email me and I will tell
them how to obtain a copy.

Documents N1292, N1293 and N1294 were placed on the server shortly before
the Vienna meeting.

Following the dicussion in Vienna about our future procedures for
electronic documentation I have made a few (small) changes to the way in
which documents are stored on the server:

1. The LATEST_DOCS directory has been removed. In future all document
directories will be called either Nxx01-Nxx50 or Nxx51-Nyy00 (where yy =
xx+1), with the last document Nxx50 or Nyy00, as appropriate, being the
document register for that batch of 50 documents. Once a document has been
placed in such a directory it will never, therefore, move elsewhere.

2. Within each such directory there will be an index file called index.txt
and four sub-directories called Acrobat, HTML, PostScript and Text. Every
document will be available in uncompressed pdf form in the Acrobat
directory and in gzip-compressed PostScript form in the PostScript
directory. There will also be html and text versions (uncompressed)
wherever possible. Documents N1287, N1290 and N1294 from the above list
are currently available as html files; N1287, N1290, N1292 and N1293 are
available as text files.

Resolution V2, which should be read in conjunction with N1302, establishes
a small group to design a new web-site and associated new procedures and I
do not propose to make any further changes until after that group has made
its recommendations.
