Subject: RE: (SC22WG5.1428) WG5 Vienna Meeting - Any Developments?

The short answer (my personal view) is: Nothing very significant happened at
the Vienna meeting. The most important results were interpersonal interactions
that occurred outside the formal structure of the meeting. (Also, an
opportunity for the delegates to visit one of the finest cities in the world.)

I assume that a more detailed summary will be posted soon, possibly before the
Breckenridge meeting.

Subject:	(SC22WG5.1428) WG5 Vienna Meeting - Any Developments?

I have heard nothing about any developments at this week's WG5 meeting. I
have some questions for anyone who would care to answer, either officially
or unofficially:
     1. Have there been any developments at the WG5 meeting?
     2. Specifically, are any of the recently approved Fortran 2000 features
in danger of being killed off?
     3. Anything not on the list that is likely to be added?
     4. Any new / revised mandates from SC22?
     5. What are the significant developments, if any, on each of the
features approved for Fortran 2000?

For the record, I will be working at home on Friday, July 25. I hope to
complete work on my papers on Edits for Named Scratch Files and the revised
technical specification for Command Line Arguments. The command Line
Arguments paper is 95% done. If time permits (ha, ha), I hope to draft some
very preliminary work on VOLATILE attribute and statement and Stream I/O. I
also have some thoughts on other issues.

Please let me know what is going on.
