Subject: PDTR 15815 Ballot periods
Cc: sc22wg5 <sc22wg5@dkuug.dk>

The PDTR for Interoperability with C (WG5 N1277) has now been distributed
for ballot by the SC22 Secretariat as PDTR 15815. In fact, as usual, there
are two concurrent ballots - one to register the document as a PDTR and the
other to approve its content. Both ballots will end on September 11th.

Given the cross-language nature of this technical report it would obviously
be desirable for national ballots comments to take account of the C
community's views as well as those of the Fortran community, and I would
like to request those responsible for developing their national position on
this document to arrange to obtain the views of their national C committee
if possible. I have already asked John Benito, the Convenor of the C
Working Group - WG14, if his WG could review the document when it is
distributed in order that national C committees may have some guidance from
them.

Note that because the ballot will still be in progress at the time of the
WG5 Vienna meeting it will not be possible to take any action on the
document there, which is why there is no specific reference to it in the
agenda. We shall, however, need to establish a procedure for dealing with
the comments (I assume that there will be some ;-) that are submitted with
country ballots.
