Subject: Enhanced data Types DTR - WG5 Ballot to forward

The latest version of the Enhanced Data Types DTR, revised following the
PDTR Ballot, is now on the WG5 server in both Acrobat (pdf) and PostScript
forms as document N1275.

The changes that have been made to the PDTR are due to
 (a) ballot comments from DIN - most of which have been accepted
 (b) compliance with the latest ISO directives
 (c) errors in some of the edits found during comparison with the F95 DIS.

1. The first paragraph of the Introduction has been revised and now forms
    part of the Foreword.

2. The Introduction has been moved to immediately follow the Foreword and
now contains the Rationale section (without separate heading). The
ISO/IEC directives make it quite clear that rationale belongs in the
    introduction.

3. The language in 1.1 Scope now conforms to the directives.

4. The language in 1.2 Normative References now conforms to the directives.

5. The edits have been revised to apply to the F95 DIS (I hope no line numbers
are going to change in the final document!), as follows:
      (i) 5.1 eighth constraint [48:12]
          - unnecessary "or pointer" deleted, comment simplified
     (ii) 5.1 third-last constraint [48:33]
          - comment simplified
    (iii) 5.2.10 R533-R537 second constraint [61:40]
          - changed to add a new constraint at [61:42+] instead of trying to
shoehorn it onto an existing constraint.
     (iv) 12.4.1.1 [201:21+]
          - line number changed to [201:16+]
      (v) 12.4.1.6 [203:22]
          - wording changed "any part" to "an ultimate component" (so as not
to say anything about things reached via pointer components).

Please review the document and indicate whether you believe that it should
be submitted to JTC1 for final DTR approval ballot by returning the
following ballot to me by Sunday 18th May 1997.
