Just a general comment on John's suggestion to return to a more generalised
exception handling extension in addition to the simplified FP execptions
already accepted. Given that we now have facilities to handle the most
important programming exceptions in the Fortran market niche, should we now
look rather at general event driven programming support. This would of course
include more generalised exceptions which would be a specific class of event,
but event driven programming covers more than merely program exceptions and
this is an area of growing importance in all programming scientific and
engineering applications included.

Just a thought!
