Subject: Ballot to forward Corrigendum 3 (WG5 N1175)

The proposed text for Corrigendum 3 is now available from the WG5 ftp site
(ftp.nag.co.uk/sc22wg5) as WG5 N1175 (and also, presumably, from the two US
mirrors). The text in this document differs in one small way from the
version that will be submitted for SC22 ballot, in that each item contains
the page/line reference and the defect number on the right of the heading
line; this information will be removed before submission to SC22,but is
included for ease of reference by WG5 members.

I should like to pay tribute to the hard work put in by many members of WG5
and X3J3 in the preparation of this corrigendum, but especially to Janice
Shepherd and John Reid.

This will be the final corrigendum for Fortran 90 and is being produced in
order that the final specification of Fortran 90 (IS1539:1991 plus three
corrigenda) is compatible with Fortran 95. Its timing has been planned to
precede the submission of the Fortran 95 DIS by the smallest reasonable
interval.

As is our normal practice, all the items in corrigendum 3 have been
balloted at least once by X3J3, and most have also been either balloted by
WG5 or approved during a meeting. Before forwarding the text to SC22 for
the formal approval ballot, however, I wish to give all members of WG5 a
final chance to comment on the items contained within this last Fortran 90
corrigendum. Accordingly I am hereby initiating a 30-day electronic letter
ballot which will end at 0900 GMT on 15th April 1996.

Any comments or negative ballots will be resolved, if possible, by
correspondence.

----------------------------- Ballot Response -------------------------------

I approve the submission of WG5 N1175, modified to remove the references to
page/line numbers and to defect numbers, to SC22 for ballotting as the
third and final corrigendum to IS 1539:1991 (Fortram 90).
