Subject: Final review of Fortran 95 prior to DIS ballot

The final draft of the proposed Draft International Standard for Fortran 95
is now available on the WG5 ftp server (ftp.nag.co.uk/sc22wg5) as document
WG5 N1176, and the edits made to the earlier draft produced after the San
Diego meeting (N1166) are contained in document N1177.

There has already been an informal ballot at both individual and country
level on the earlier version, and N1176 reflects the (very small number of)
comments received. It is reasonable to assume that N1176, therefore, is
acceptable to all parties.

However, the submission of the DIS to JTC1 cannot take place until after
the 3rd and final Corrigendum for Fortran 90 has been submitted, and this
will not take place until mid-April, after the WG5 ballot on forwarding it.

The draft DIS has already received all the formal approval necessary at
this level, but it seems sensible to make use of the next few weeks to have
a final check. I propose, therefore, to initiate a further 30-day
consideration period, ending at 0900 on Monday 15th April.

Any comments on any aspect of the draft DIS that need correction should be
sent to me and Richard Maine (or to the whole WG5 list if you wish) to
arrive no later than the time indicated above. He and I will determine
what action, if any, is to be taken over any comments raised before the DIS
is submitted to JTC1 for final processing, hopefully before the end of
April.
