The discrepancy was INTENTIONAL. Inquire specifiers are supposed to be default integers; OPEN etc. are integers. The reason is that inquire comes back from the system, and the others are transmitted in the other direction. I don't remember all of the arguments, and maybe they need to be revisited, but it IT WAS NOT DONE BY ACCIDENT!!! I will be at Las Vegas and I will try to keep something precipitate from being done on this without the proper research into why it was done in the first place.
