This is sad news. I met Dan in 2019, both he and Steve Lionel (the J3 le=
adership at the time) were very nice to get me up to speed on the Fortra=
n committee processes, and fill me in on the history of why certain thin=
gs are designed the way they are. Like Damian said, Dan has been keen on=
 collaborating, we were planning for him to teach co-arrays at LANL and =
for me to come to NCAR, but it didn't work out due to Covid.

Dan was a great guy, always friendly and eager to help and I always enjo=
yed interacting with him.

Rest in peace Dan.
