Hi Steve,

Interesting history and link for Aptos. The obvious general question is why
is Microsoft relevant to anything. More specifically, does the font
distinguish among the number 1, the letter lower case L, and the letter
uppercase I?

Cheers,

Bill

As most of you know, one of the things that held up ISO processing of F2023
(still in "processing" as I write this, balloting not yet started ) was
ISO's insistence that the standard use 11-point Callibri font. Callibri has
been around for 15 years, having been introduced with Office 2007. We got an
exemption for this time, promising to switch to Callibri for the next
revision.

Recently, Microsoft announced that it was retiring Callibri, replacing it
with a typeface (a font is a specific size of typeface) called Aptos. (It
had been called Bierstadt earlier.) It would not astonish me if, by the time
we're ready to submit F202Y, that ISO will have switched to requiring use of
Aptos.
