All,

As I previously wrote, ISO has directed that any in-person meetings
scheduled between now and June 30 be either canceled, postponed or have
virtual presence offered. (INCITS has left this up to committee
chairperson decision.) Many potential attendees of the joint WG5/J3
meeting, planned for June 22-26 in Minneapolis, have indicated that they
would not be able to attend.

After consultation with various members of WG5, including Dan Nagle (J3
Chair) and Bill Long (June meeting host), we have chosen to cancel the
June meeting that would have been hosted by Cray in Minneapolis. This
was a difficult decision to make, but to do otherwise would prevent
participation by many regular attendees due to travel restrictions and
time zone differences. Most of us are familiar with teleconferencing's
pluses and minuses, and many of us feel that it would not work well for
the intensive collaboration environment of the Fortran committee
meetings. WG5 and J3 thank Cray, and their representative Bill Long, for
generously offering to host us, and we hope the opportunity arises in a
future year.

The joint WG5/J3 meeting will now be October 12-16, 2020, at the
Residence Inn by Marriott in Las Vegas. That will be J3 meeting 222 (I
will renumber these on the J3 web site) and will update the various
places this and the WG5 meetings appear.

Let us try to get some progress on the remaining 202X work in the
meantime so that we don't lose too much time in the schedule. I'll be
discussing this more with the various subgroup heads.

Thank you to all who have contributed their thoughts on the matter while
we negotiate this difficult time.

Steve Lionel
WG5 Convenor
