Dear all,

My term of office ends in the summer and I have announced that I think
it is time for me to step down. I have been having an email discussion
with Steve Lionel because he strikes me as very suitable as a successor.
He is willing to take on the role. He has retired recently but would
like to remain active re the Fortran standard.

I have checked with the people that regularly attend WG5 meetings and
all support the idea of Steve as convenor. As ever, I seek consensus,
and I have it. Thank you, Steve, for agreeing to step forward.

I will set the formal process in motion. The appointment is made by SC22
and there will have to be a change of country because the country of the
convener has first refusal. With consensus in WG5, I don't think there
will be any problems.

With best wishes,

John.
