BSI did the same thing in 2000, although at a more modest level, =A3200
incl. VAT for the programming languages committee.  Even so there was
outrage amongst members (=93we are working for free - they should be
paying us=94) and a significant number of people withdrew from the
committee.

There was even more outrage when it was found out that not all BSI
committees were being charged.  After some forthright exchanges BSI
agreed to drop the charge for the programming languages committee in
2005 but at the same time stopped providing a secretary to take
minutes and reduced HQ secretarial back-up.  Now we seem to be back to
the pre-2000 situation.

Provided you are on the ISO Global Directory of experts there should
be no problem in your carrying on with WG5 as before.
