This is extremely important.  I would make it stronger:

"Do not take a decision if we are not convinced it will prevent a proper
solution later."

This means, "if you're not sure the bridge won't collapse, don't step
onto it."  This is very different from "don't step onto the bridge if
you think it might collapse."
