Has anyone else had this problem? The pdf was generated by Pages 4.3
running on MacOSX 10.7.5. The only font used throughout is Times New Roman
and so far as I can see there is nothing special about bold 'a'.

The file displays correctly with several pdf readers on my system. Is it a
bug in Acroread or in Pages?

Agreed.
