WG5,

I have just heard from Rex Jaeschke, who is at the JTC 1 Plenary in San Diego,
that Malcolm is the recipient of an IEC 1906 award for his work as Editor of the
Fortran standard.

The award "commemorates the IEC's year of foundation and honours IEC experts
around the world whose work is fundamental to the IEC. It recognizes exceptional
and recent achievement - a project or other specific contribution - related to
the activities of the IEC and which contributes in a significant way to
advancing the work of the Commission."

For details, see http://www.iec.ch/about/awards/1906/

Rex tells me that the JTC 1 Chair, Ms. Karen Higginbottom, read out the
recipients' names and projects, to which delegates gave their applause.

Congratulations, Malcolm! It was thoroughly deserved.

John.
