I'm preparing a proposal and draft for a Type-2 TR on physical or
engineering units.

I'm doing this because of the sentiment expressed at the May WG5 meeting
that there would not be any significant projects in the next Fortran
revision after 2008.

Physical unit systems for programming languages have been high on my
sponsor's list for over 25 years, starting with the "tinman" proposal
for what became Ada.

If there is no hope to develop a physical unit system for Fortran before
I retire, my sponsor will in all likelihood stop sending me to meetings
and stop paying INCITS dues as soon as Fortran 2008 is published.

If you want my current draft of this TR, I am happy to send it to you.

Van
