WG5,

In Feb., I asked J3 members what they felt about holding a future WG5 meeting in
Japan and got an enthusiastic response. Following this, Makki has very kindly
made an offer for May or Nov 2008, see below.

I would like to accept the offer for May, but the current schedule says the
meeting should be in February. In view of the inefficiency of ISO, we might not
get the ballot result in time for a Feb. meeting anyway. And allowing ourselves
a little more time to prepare the document would be no harm, IMHO.

We need to decide about the May meeting soon, but could delay considering the
Nov. offer until the London meeting.

What do you think?

Best wishes,

John.

John,

Sorry I hadn't written since I sent the message below.

We discussed the possibility and concluded that we would like to host a meeting
at the Kikai Shinko Kaikan building, where the IPSJ/ITSCJ office is, in Tokyo.

Time would be either 12-16 May or 24-28 November, 2008. I guess Fortran WG
itself, chaired by Tanaka-san, will be the nominal local host, and I will play
the main role in effect. A dinner and a short tour in Tokyo will be planned
for the participants, possibly with an optional tour in/near Tokyo, prior to
or after the meeting.

Does this sound good for you and Dan? We need a firm answer more than one year
prior to the meeting time, which means a May meeting has to be scheduled very
soon. A meeting plan has to be approved at the Board meeting of ITSCJ, before
the meeting rooms are booked. So, a November meeting is easier to hold, though
I personally prefer May. I look forward to a good answer.

Regards,

Makki
