Dear Friends,
In the forthcoming issue of ACM Fortran Forum, the following
announcement will apperar:

Seeking a new Editor

It is now more than six years since I took over the editorship of Fortran
Forum from its founder, Loren Meissner. During that time we have seen the
changeover from Fortran 90 to Fortran 95, and the newsletter has reported on
the development of Fortran 2003, whose standard document is in its last
phases of approval. This is thus an appropriate time to hand over to someone
who would like to continue this tradition over the next few years, as
Fortran 2003 is introduced and used, and its successor, in turn, evolves.

I therefore invite anyone who might like to become Editor to contact me, in
the first instance. We can then discuss further details.

I would also like to thank all the technical contributors over these years
for their helpful collaboration. I trust that this will continue into the
future. Maybe one of them would even like to take the helm?

Michael Metcalf (michaelmetcalf@compuserve.com)

Given that WG5/J3 might consider it appropriate to have as my replacement
someone from the standards community, I invite you to give this some
consideration, possibly on the side-lines of your May meeting.

Thanks,

Mike
